September Update 2011

We still have the 6 and 9 year olds and the next court hearing is in November for them. So we still have five girls in the house at present. The finishing of the women's ministry is on hold probably until next summer. The basement was flooded, mercifully before the new flooring was installed! We have to address this situation to prevent future flooding before finishing the basement. We believe a sump pump is needed, amongst other things.
I will update on the incredible blessing of the car soon; it was approved and the car is ordered! We are still so blessed. Meanwhile, prayers for God's provision for the sump pump install (thousands of dollars), please!
Thank you and God bless you all!

Update-July 31, 2011

Lumber Liquidators did give us 18 months to pay off the flooring with no interest so we are proceeding with that plan. We are anticipating installing the flooring in September. Meanwhile, stay tuned for more incredible news about the new car donation. We heard from the donor last week and they think it will happen in one or two months; truly a blessing. We are amazed. This will give us 11 more years (or more) of no automobile worries. Wow. Meanwhile, we have two precious little ones, 6 and 9, with us at least until the end of August. We will know more in August.

So Blessed,

FHM

July 25 update

Lumber Liquidators has budget constraints at present, preventing them from donating the flooring as considered. We have to wait at least three months and check again. We are praying for direction regarding timing and procurment of the flooring materials. Sometimes they have excellent sales and they have a six month no interest payment plan so we will see how we proceed. They do have excellent prices, but it all adds up. We will not need the flooring material until September when the crew comes so we have some time.

His timing, His ways, for His means,

Cheryl

July Update

We have made excellent progress with the electrical upgrade in the basement, thanks to a wonderful servant that goes to Church of the Redeemer. Church of the Redeemer's Iserve team wants to come out and add a ceiling light in two more spots (same guy), patch up the walls (drywall work), and paint the entire women's shelter living space. They are working with Lumber Liquidators to get the flooring donated, so let's pray they approve their application for a donation. The flooring needs to be a special moisture resistant floating floor for below grade applications on cement with a moisture proof barrier. They are waiting to hear from Lumber Liquidators about the flooring donation application to schedule the team to come out and finish the women's shelter space. We are hoping to be have that area ready for habitation by September.

Meanwhile, a major car manufacturer is so touched by all we are doing, asked how old our cars are and is in the process of working out an incredible deal on a brand new car! This is amazing as the car it will replace is 11 years old and needing a lot of repairs. We would pay 10% of the car. Our God is an awesome God!! When everything is approved we will advertise the amazingly generous donor and you won't believe who it is! The car in mind gets better gas mileage than a Prius!

Blessings to all and thank you for all your prayers for us!

March Update

Sorry, I have been busy with the girls (two teens living with us that we consider forever family, and then Faith), and my graduate work. We are hoping to start electrical wiring upgrade on the women's ministry living space in the spring. Our funds are out so we need to raise money to finish the women's ministry living space; electrical upgrade work, fixing/patching walls and ceiling/painting, fireplace insert and fixing the chimney, and installing new floor and drapes. We did 70% of the work and that is the remaining 30% left to do for occupancy.

Hopefully we will have more progress to report on later in the spring. We might speak at a few churches and local rotaray clubs to raise awareness of our needs. Compared to all we have done this is nothing but it still requires finances and our construction fund is dry.

Thank you for your prayers for us as we are seeing wonderful things happen in our home! We look forward to more as more children come and go and the women's ministry starts. This is all in God's timing, not ours!

Blessings,

Cheryl

Happy New Year!!

Wow, my last post was November 4th and it is January now. That is amazing. I continue to be so busy meeting the needs of all the girls (and graduate school), but I will work on the photo uploads when I get some free time (preferably before February!) We have such cute photos of the kids, some that came and went but I never posted.

I was told to re-post our current needs so here you are:

List of Current Needs January 2011
  • Anyone with a time share or regular vacation home they don't use much that they can donate for a few days or a week that would be a good place to take kids during school breaks and summer, would be most welcome! It has proven to be very expensive providing lodging with at least two beddrooms and a kitchen and this will limit any vacations. We took the girls for two days and one night over Christmas break and can't imagine staying longer and going somewhere even in the mountains during summer.
  • Patio and walk way for women's ministry entrance from outside
  • Upgraded electrical for women's shelter (hoping to start in Spring)
  • Patch walls and ceilings for women shelter after electrical upgrade
  • Paint walls in women shelter
  • Fix chimney for women's shelter
  • Fireplace insert for women's shelter
  • Thank you everyone for your donation of clothes! We could use snow clothes and boots that are gently used for ages 5-17.
  • Also:
  • Any group wanting to do a fundraising for FHM for things like pajamas and toothbrushes for kids ages 5-17 that show up with nothing but the clothes on their backs would be very helpful.
  • Any money donated will be used toward these needs and the children will be richly blessed. It was so wonderful to see how happy they were during Christmas and thank you all for thinking of the children!

God bless you all for all your thoughts and prayers and charity towards Faith Home Ministries!
